I did my first piece of stitchery at school when I was around 10 years old but grew up in a family where needlework was a common practice. Therefore it became something I loved to do along with art, blending the two together. Embroidery in all its forms and the development of styles throughout history both in costume, furnishings and decorative objects continues to intrigue and inspire. My work depicts nature in stitchery, fiber, mixed and media sometimes combining all of these together with other creative experimental techniques to portray the ideas, be it realism or abstract. My Art College background has given me the insight to explore the wonderous natural elements to create a series or one of a kind pieces, texturally both 2D and sculpturally inspired. I create pieces for the wall, framed or unframed. Textural free form hangings, sculptural pieces for the home décor plus stitched jewelry pieces, purses and decorative items.
